My name is Renee Azios and I was born in Houston, Texas on May 8, 1983. As a child I participated in gymnastics, ballet, and cheerleading in which turned led to me incurring quite a few injuries along the way. As an adult, my yoga practice began while our family was stationed in Okinawa, Japan from 2013 – 2016. The running club that I participated in offered a free Mommy and Me yoga class on Mondays. Initially, I enjoyed yoga because it felt extremely good to stretch after running races. It was a way that I could also bond with my younger child. I became further interested in the benefits of yoga and began taking 3-5 classes a week in Okinawa with the woman who would inspire me to begin this journey for myself. My teacher and I would discuss benefits, philosophy, workings of yoga, and through her I discovered an inspiration that I wanted to be an instructor. I began researching yoga teacher training courses when we learned of our transfer back to the United States, and I was extremely fortunate to find one in my area. In June of 2017 I completed my 200YT at Transcending Yoga under Valerie Baltzer E-RYT500. I will be studying further with Valerie for my 500YTT beginning this October. I have a love and passion for yoga that in turn, creates a deep rooted desire to share the joy and benefits that yoga can bring to the people in my community.
